Knights (Sub Tenants)
The Knights also known as sub tenants were appeared in the Middle Ages as a new type of soldier. Most knights served a lord or a monarch, however some were known to be monks who served the Church, the church paid for the expensive horses and armour.
The Knights' training involved wild sports called joust and also involved tournaments. Jousts involved two men charging at each other with swords in arm challenging the opponent. During the middle age knights didn't belong to a standing army. Groups knights would gather to support their lord when a war was being planned. When the time for battle arose, knights would take their peasants into battle.
